2018-2019 is a new school year for all of us! I am very excited to work with currrent and new students, teachers, parents, and administration! I am asking that everyone will reach out to me about ESL requirements and concerns. Not everyone knows what ESL is or why students qualifiy for English as a Second Language (ESL), So I want to be able to answer all your questions. Students have enrolled or are in the process of enrolling at Pennsville Public School. ESL students do not necessary start at the beginning of the year. Some can start in the middle of the year or towards the end of the year. Nevertheless, students who speak another language besides English get screened in order to obtain valuable information of the individual's language skills. Not every student goes into a classroom with the same language skills. Hence, we must check to see what kind support is available in the four language domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Our goal is to provide support for ESL students in order that they grow in the their second language and develop academically and socially in the classroom, at school, and society. Being an ESL teacher, I recognize that there are variety supports for ESL students. Therefore, I know it is my job to work with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and staff in order to provide the best positive approaches in helping ELLs (English Language Learners) find success in the classroom, while supporting their development of English as a second language. As I said earlier, I am enthusiastic about my job and look forward to working with everyone this year! Please, reach out to me about any questions you have. I will have this website available for resources. In addition, our school uses Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Classroom for assignments, tests, quizzes, and Gmail for specific events, or to contact familiy, teachers, and administrations. Therefore, I have my email posted so that I can communicate with everyone. I will be sending invitations by phone and emails. So please respond as soon as possible. We will be planning community events for parents of ESL students. In the past we've done it and we loved it! I look forward to seeing parents, teacher, and staff during our special events! Thank you.
