It is always a wonderful day to communicate!
My name is Caitlin Urciuoli and I am a Speech-Language therapist at
Woodrow Wilson Community School.
One of the main objectives of the speech department here at Woodrow Wilson Community School is to enhance each student’s ability to functionally communicate.
We do this by working on a variety of techniques that target both verbal and non-verbal modes of communication. Each student’s speech-language goals are tailored to his or her individual needs. Goals may include enhancing receptive and expressive language, as well as increasing appropriate social interactions between peers and staff in an effort to foster the highest level of functional communication.
Speech-language therapy sessions will provide information through a variety of sensory modes, including auditory, visual and tactile stimuli. Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices will also be incorporated on an individual basis when it is determined by the therapist to be beneficial to the student’s communicative abilities.
Our goal is to provide the resources and support for students to generalize methods and techniques into natural environments and activities of daily living.
