"We ROW THE BOAT"
ALL students will need a classshirt for when we go on fieldtrips or participate in events. Students that were in my class last year may use their old tye dyed shirt if it still fits. We will start making and fixing up our classshirts by SEPTEMBER 1st. Students who have an old white t-shirt that still fits are asked to bring it into the classroom to be tye dyed. We will be adding our logo and names this year. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU MAY NEED SOME ASSISTANCE IN GETTING A WHITE SHIRT FOR YOUR STUDENT. Also if they have theirs from last year, please send them in.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer Gaines. This will be my second year teaching and at Tortuga Preserve. I graduated from F.G.C.U. May 2016. Previously, I completed my two internships in an Instructional Support classroom at Skyline Elementary and at North Fort Myers High School in Life skills.
Before interning, I worked for the Lee County School District as a substitute teacher for 10 years before starting college full-time a few years ago. In those 10 years, I worked with students from Pre-K to fifth grade, including students with special needs. I have also worked with students from pre-k to fifth grade with autism across the board.
I cannot wait to learn about all of the students, but before I do I would like to share a few things about myself. I have been married for 22years. My husband and I have three sons. Our oldest, James, just graduated from Vet Tech School and moved to Texas. Our other two sons, Johnathan and Jacob, are in high school. When time permits, we enjoy going to the beach, playing games, or just watching a movie together.
In my free time, I help facilitate and run a non-profit exotic bird rescue. At home, we have had an assortment of animals, even a goat and a pot-bellied pig. We currently share our home with a Pekingese. We really LOVE our animals.
Welcome to our class! We have been blessed to have Ms. Grechen join us this year. We have also been very fortunate to have Mrs. Linda and Ms. Marisa helping us during different times in the classroom. This website has been created to help you and your child with what is going on in the classroom and our school. It is full of information and will be updated frequently.
Here’s to a great year!

"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do."
-Dr. Temple Grandin
You can teach a student a lesson for a day, but if you can teach
him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning
process as long as he lives.
