Welcome
My name is Mr. Zeier and my partner's name is Mrs. Allison. We make up the Dynamic Duo of Long Valley Middle School. We can’t believe that school will be starting so soon but we also can't be more excited. More importantly, we are thrilled to be working with you! This year is going to be a fun and unique learning adventure that will require some hard work but we know that you will be successful.
Let me take this opportunity to tell you about me, Mr. Zeier. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Education. I have been working in education for the past 8 years with most of those years in Special Services. I have worked with various grade levels and various abilities and these experiences have taught me a lot. I didn’t start out as a teacher. I worked in the corporate sector for over a decade at a large telecommunications corporation. It wasn’t till later that a series of events led me to teaching and I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER! I am very passionate about teaching and only wish I chose teaching as a career earlier in life. With some hard work and persistence, I was able to take all the right steps to make the career change. It just goes to show that it is never too late.
I am married to my beautiful wife Cathy and we live in Mount Olive with our three children and two dogs. My son, Andrew, is 19 and attends County College of Morris where he is continuing his education in Computer Engineering. My twin daughters, Isabella & Elizabeth, attend Mount Olive High School and are also active in sports and various academic and social clubs. I draw upon my experience as a parent and an educator to create a warm and active learning environment in which all can succeed.
Now let's talk about Mrs. Allison. "What do you want to be when you grow up?", is a question most children hear. For Mrs. Allison, the answer was easy. "A teacher!" She studied Education at Rutgers College, graduating in 1979. She studen- taught at Clara Barton Elementary School in Edison and The NJ School for Boys in Skillman. Both were valuable experiences for her. After taking personal time to raise her own children, in 1995 she began to substitute for Washington Township. Four years later, She had chosen to work at Long Valley Middle School as an aide. That was more than 20 years ago!
Last year, Mrs. Allison had the privilege of working with Mr. Zeier. To quote Mrs. Allison, "He partners learning with laughter while keeping a focus on appropriate behavior. We are both dedicated to ensuring the students have a successful year!"
Also, we both believe that everybody should strive to be better today than they were yesterday. Therefore, we will encourage you to work to reach your highest potential, to feel good about yourselves, and to know that you can learn. We look at the whole student and will focus on your strengths, your needs, and your own expectations as to who you want to be, now and in the future.
We are certain that all of us can work together as a team to ensure that this school year can be as productive as possible.
Sincerely,
Mr. Zeier & Mrs. Allison
