Mr. Smyth
I am a graduate from Brick Township HS in 2005, and then from Coastal Carolina University in 2009. I have been a physical education/drivers education teacher for the last 8 years at BTHS. I am currently a football, basketball, and baseball coach at BTHS. I have a lot of pride in what I do as teacher, as well as a coach.

Foundation of Wellness II
Class Objectives:
Students will participate in the health related components (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition) of wellness. This class encompasses all of the components necessary to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Students will participate in a variety of physical fitness exercises including cardio body weight, upper and lower body bodyweight workouts, core training, yoga and pilates, meditation, health and nutrition, and more Performance based skill evaluations will be used to assess and monitor students’ fitness.
The Students will also be enrolled in a 5 week Drivers Education class for the kowledge portion of getting their GDL permits. They will be issued NJ Driver Manuals, and be taught the rules and regulations of the road. At the end of the class, they will take the NJ DMV Knowledge test through the NJ DMV State testing site in class. If they receive an 80 or above the DMV will be notifies and then the students can enroll in the 6 hours of driving program. (outside of school program) . Once that is completed they will be issued their GDL Permit for the state of NJ.
Daily Expectations:
- Be on time and in your assigned seat.
- Come prepared in appropriate attire.
- Listen carefully to instructions.
- Always participate and give your best effort!
- Be respectful - to your teacher, classmates and any equipment.
- Be safe at all times and aware of your surroundings.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship.
- NO use of cell phones or headphones. (will be times they can be used)
- Always communicate to teacher with any questions or concerns.
