Welcome to our 1st grade class.  In way of a little introduction, I want to share with you that I have been working as an educator for about 17 years in various settings.  I have worked with students at the college level, high school level and elementary level.  Prior to obtaining my teaching credentials, I worked as a dental hygienist.  I love working with elementary students.

My own children are grown and no longer living at home, but I enjoy personal time with our four grandchildren.  My husband and I have lived in Florida for 19 years.

I believe communication between home and school is vital to your child's success.  A binder will travel back and forth between school and home daily.  It includes a calendar.  You will find your child's spelling words for the week pasted on the calendar for a given week.  We can also use the daily section to  write messages back and forth as necessary.  Your child will record his or her homework on the proper day in the binder as well as collect any homework pages and place them in the front of the binder each day.  The binder will also serve as a way to communicate your child's behavior for the day.  At the end of each day students record their behavior in the binder and I initial it to confirm it is correct.

We have spent some time learning procedures and classroom expectations since the begining of school.  The students have been quick learners and seem eager to please.  I am sure we will have an excellent year.
