Hello Great Parents and Guardians:
By now, I am assuming, you have received an email detailing that I will be your scholar's 3rd Grade Math and Science teacher. The message below is my welcome to the 2020 -2021 school year:
My name is Sundjata Sekou (pronounced Sund-jata Say-Coo). I have a passion and love for shaping the future minds of our country’s youth. I want your child to be a thinker, a leader, and a scholar! Your scholar has the potential to be great! That is why I am excited about being your child’s 3rd Grade Math and Science teacher.
In addition to my passion about education, I have a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. Also, I earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. Plus, I have a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University. Additionally, I have an associate degree in business from the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY). These degrees and my life experiences have prepared me to bring out the best in your child.
Furthermore, in order to prepare your child for future success, we must start in the present. So, your child’s grades will be based on class work, tests, projects, and homework. Moreover, along with doing all schoolwork to prepare your scholar for the future, your sage’s performance will be monitored with ClassDojo. Additionally, what your genius has for homework will be posted on ClassDojo. Plus, you can contact me through ClassDojo. If you are not on ClassDojo, please let me know so that I can send you an invite.
Furthermore, I believe that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Ms. Gilmore, myself, and all the adults at Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School are absolutely one part of the village. The other part of the village is you. So, please ensure that all homework is finished.
