Child Development 1

Child Development 1 students will be introduced to the study of young children and early childhood education.  Students will begin to understand the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development from conception to age 5.  Students will use these skills to promote the well-being and healthy development of children in the preschool classroom (the preschool classroom is located in the high school).  They will also investigate careers related to the care and education of children.

We will be directly involved with the students in the preschool classroom. Students are in groups rotating throughout the room.  Each group has its distinct responsibilities such as lesson planning, teaching, prepping and planning for the next day of teaching, observing students and documentation, and completing required assignments furthering their knowledge of child development.
