Dear Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I look forward to teaching your child during their second year of preschool. I am eager to present your child with a safe and enriching learning environment where they will grow and learn about themselves and the world around them, socialize with a diverse group of children and build on their self-esteem, self-confidence and independence.
The school setting offers you and your child the opportunity to build a community of learners. Each of us—child, parent and teacher—have the ability to become partners in creating a learning experience for our children that offers meaning and depth. In other words, we each have the opportunity to contribute our strengths, skills, knowledge and culture to support the success and well-roundedness of our children.
My teaching philosophy is to provide children with opportunities and guiding questions which lead them to their own discoveries and conclusions. I believe the best type of learning is active and hands-on learning. This is achieved by learning through play. Our classroom will be involved in lots of play that incorporates the five senses so children can draw their own conclusions about the world around them.
My expectation for our children is that they become eager learners, discover their strengths, learn to be empathetic and become resilient. You, as parents, play a key role in your child’s success. You, after all, are your child’s first teacher. The bond that parents have with their children is beautiful and incredibly influential. In our partnership we will provide your child with invaluable learning opportunities and offer each other support as we set our children to succeed.
