Hello and Welcome to Art at LAMS!
A little bit about me:
My name is Ms. Doten. I am a product of the Lee County School District having graduated from Estero High School. I went on to get my Bachelor's of Art and a minor in Business Management from FGCU in 2007. Go Eagles!! I have spent several years in the business community and am excited for my third year in teaching at LAMS. I am excited to say I am a member of the Lee Art Educators Association, Florida Art Educators Association and National Art Edcators Associations; all organizations offer many amazing opportunities for our students to display art in our district as well as the state and nation. I have added several dates for art shows I plan to have the students display in.
Your student has been enrolled in either Art 1, Art 2 or Art 3: Portfolio and I am so excited for the 2018-2019 school year! We will explore drawing and painting as well as 3D art via clay, plaster and mixed media.
In an effort to make your student's art experience more interesting and memorable we are attempting to purchase supplemental art materials your student will use during the current course of studies. This will allow us to provide an outstanding and varied curriculum for your student. Examples of supplies that we will furnish include: varied drawing papers, charcoal, pastels, ink, pens, oil pastels, watercolors, scratchboard, acrylic paint, brushes, drawing/colored pencils, erasers, and canvas board.
Students in any art level are required to have a pencil, eraser and a sketchbook (please note students may use either a sketchbook, spiral notebook or composition book so long as they have something they can draw in). Art 2 6th period students will need a small pack of hand needles ($1.50 at Walmart is where I got mine for class).
Donations to the art department are always welcome, things that help: paper towels, non-scented hand soap, tissues, news papers, magazines, clay working tools, art books (artists, mediums, histories etc), plastic bottles, & aluminum cans etc. Your contribution toward supplies will allow your child a high quality experience and provide them with artwork that will become a meaningful part of your home. Please note: any finanical contributions should be made out to Lehigh Acres Middle School.
You can view the calendar at your discretion to keep up to date on art shows, homework, class assignments and other information from the art community.
We will be doing a 5 day Historic Tour of Boston in June of 2019. www.efexploreamerica.com/2119127rj
