llo and I'm glad that you found my Website! My name is Dana Moore and I am excitied to be your instructor for the 2022-2023 school year in Agriculture. I absolutely love all things related to Agriculture. I have been interested in plants, animals, insects, rocks, and dirt since I was a kid. My love for nature stayed with me through my teenage years and helped me pick a field of study when I finished High School. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana Univeristy in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Science. I have worked at wholesale and retail plant nurseries and was hired by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) shortly after college. I worked for LDAF for 11 years as a field regulator. My role was to inspect and build relationships with industry leaders such as animal feed producers, local farmers, seed distributors, fertilizer mills, retail and wholesale plant nurseries, and pesticide operators. I learned so much during my time working for LDAF that I decided to teach what I have loved and learned. I was hired by Hammond High Magnet 7 years ago. At that time, HHMS offered 5 Ag I classes. As our students gained an interest in working with plant material, tools, animals, and food items, our program grew each year. We now offer 10 Ag I classes! Our Ag department has grown tremendously and we now have 3 teachers. We hope you enjoy Introduction to Agriculture (Ag I) and stick around for our other Ag classes: Ag II, Ag III and Carpentry. If you take and pass both Ag I and Ag II, you will recieve a science credit toward graduation. You can earn certification in the jump start pathway for graduation in Ag II (Core) and Carpentry. Our lessons and hands-on learning experiences are crafted to be inclusive for all.
