Mrs. Paul
5th Grade ELA/SS
Team 5-7
**NO METAL WATER BOTTLES!! PLASTIC ONLY**
For success in my classes, students will need:
- A backpack (preferably without wheels. We live on the 3rd floor...that's A LOT of stairs!)
- 4 Composition Notebooks with at least 100 pages (Three for ELA (Reading, Writing, and Word Work/Grammar) and one for Social Studies)
- Binders and "Trapper Keepers" are not necessary. They don't fit in the desks that well anyway.
- Pencils (and lead if using the mechanical kind)
- Handheld pencil sharpener (preferably one that contains the shavings so they don't end up on the floor)
- Erasers (White ones work best...no smudges on the paper!)
- Wired Earbuds to keep in class (Preferred, since they store easier in the classroom)
- Pens (Red, Blue, Black)
- A SOFT pencil case or Ziploc bag to hold your supplies. The hard-sided ones are cumbersome and make A LOT of noise and A BIG MESS when they're dropped off of the desks and the book stacks we carry.
- Crayons and colored pencils are always handy to have.
I would greatly appreciate:
- Tissues (5th graders are still "snotty," especially during allergy season!)
- Glue Sticks (Elmer's with the orange cap work best!)
- Wipes (Hand, baby..NO CLOROX or LYSOL) We get messy... even in 5th grade
- "Ziploc" bags to store earbuds,
In ELA, we will be reading all sorts of literature, from short stories to news articles to novels. We will work as a whole class, in small groups, in partners, and independently.
In Social Studies, we will be studying the five major areas: Government, Geography, Economics, History and Active Citizenship.
