SWMHS BAND

All students should be ready to play their instruments within 3 minutes of the bell ringing for the class period. For days that music history and theory are covered, they should be seated and ready to participateon these activities immediately upon the bell ringing. 

Students are expected to maintain the school's original band folders along with a personal folder for handouts and practice copies of music and worksheets.  

Students are expected to perform at the annual SWMHS Holiday Concert, which is on Wednesday, December 11. Dress is all black---students with difficulty obtaining and all-black wardrobe should contact me by November 15thto give the band parents time to find suitable outfits.  

Students should report to a lesson period at least every other week for 5 per semester. This is 15% of the student’s grade. Lunch periods are long enough for this.  

Students are expected to play music that is appropriate to their level of expertise. More is expected of advanced performers.  

Students will also be required to pass off on music theory and history topics that are covered in class. Again, they are responsible for topics according to their level of experience.  

Sometimes, I will ask students to assist with music filing or putting chairs and stands away.
