Welcome to 1st grade! I'm so excited to be your teacher this year. We will have a year full of learning, fun, and laughter. This website can be used to share information and keep you up to date on what is going on in our classroom.
About Me: I am from Napa Valley, California and I came to Louisiana for college and loved it so much that I had to stay! I live in Bedico with my husband James, our 1 year old son Logan, and my stepdaughter Cameron who attends Ponchatoula High School.
You will get a weekly "Homework Note" sent home that will list weekly words and skills. If you have any questions, please reach out to me. I use Class Dojo to track behavior as well as communicate with families so please make sure you sign up for it!
Math: Our district uses the Eureka Math Curriculum. There are many resources available online to help out with any questions you have about the curriculum. First grade covers a lot so please make sure that your kids are always practicing! The website I have posted takes you to a Youtube page where a teacher goes over each lesson. They are great for extra explinations!
Reading/ELA: Our district uses both Wit and Wisdom and CKLA curriculums for our ELA instruction. Always make sure that your children READ READ READ every day! Also, you reading to your children is just as important in these younger years.
Science/Social Studies: We will cover a varitey of topics so always look for what we are learning on our weekly Homework Note.
