Bienvenue! Welcome to a new level of your French studies. Félicitations!

Course Description:

This course will give you a broader introduction to the fundamentals French grammar, pronunciation and culture through a balanced development of all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The importance of communication and cultural awareness is stressed through a wide variety of activities (group/pair work, videos, audio recording, computer assignments, etc…).By using the target language, you will also be introduced to the culture of many French-speaking countries. Finally, with your cooperation, this will be a fun and exciting year. I guarantee that if you put in the effort, you will get the most out of class and your French will improve

 

Remote Learning Expectations

  • Everyone is expected to login on time using the schedule and given classroom codes for each class.

  • Use the nod to ask a question by raising your hand

  • Do not be shy

  • In the virtual classroom, you will submit your homework, project and tests in Google classroom on the due date

  • Do not be late with your assignments

  • Ask questions if you need any clarification on any work

  • Please take advantage of tutoring sessions

  • Volunteering to answer when appropriate

  • Being on task and responding when called on.

  • Helping to create and maintain a positive learning environment.

  • Students are responsible for all work missed during any absence.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements to submit and/or schedule the makeup work. 

 

Les Objectifs du Cours (Course Objectives):

At the completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:

  • Communicate in French orally and in writing about everyday situations such as school, food, family, time, weather, colors, etc….

  • Comprehend both written and spoken language about everyday situations.

  • Show some knowledge of the Francophone world and of French geography, history and daily life.

  • Demonstrate understanding of French spelling, pronunciation, and basic French grammar. Connect French studies with other subjects studied at IHS and in the world around them.

            Illustrate similarities and differences between the French and the American cultures.

  • COMMUNICATION IN THE TARGET LANGUAGE: All students are expected to communicate in the target language.

  • HOMEWORK: Completion of homework is essential for success in this class.

  • CLASS PARTICIPATION: Being an engaged member of the class is critical to language learning success.

Grading Policy

Tests: 20%

Quizzes: 40%

Independent Assessments: 30%

Participation: 10%
