Dear Parents,

It is a great pleasure, honor and privilege to be an ESL Teacher at North Dover Elementary as it is a remarkable place to make a difference in a child’s life.  Day by day I witness my students’ first steps in their new country. We learn how to overcome obstacles and move towards success.

We have a lot to learn.  In our ESL lessons, we are learning new words; how to listen, speak, read and write in English; we are learning how to understand and follow directions; how to demonstrate understanding of new material by answering questions and using new words correctly. I strive to make my instruction as meaningful and enjoyable as possible in order to support your child’s academic success.

You should be very proud of your child because s/he is trying very hard making her/his first steps in the new country. Therefore, your help and support are very important in this matter.  And to do so you could simply ask your child at the end of the day what s/he has learned in her / his ESL class. Go over new words, read a book, write a sentence with your child together.   Please go over the worksheets and picture cards I send home with your child.  You may be able to learn a few new words with your child as well!

Thank you very much for your help and support! I really appreciate it.   If you have any questions, please send an email or a note via her homeroom teacher and I will be happy to answer all your questions and concerns.  I am looking forward to making every day as meaningful and as productive as possible.
