Counseling Department Mission Statement

The mission of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District's School Counseling Department is to provide a proactive, comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.  School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement.  School counselors work in partnership with other educators, families, and the community to assist in preparing all students in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District with the knowledge and skills needed to be productive, contributing members of society,

Why Elementary School Counselors?

The elementary school years set the tone for developing skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for your children to become healthy, productive adults. During this time students gain decision-making, communication, and other life skills while also building character values and feelings of self worth. Comprehensive, developmental counseling is both proactive and preventive, with identified goals and learning objectives at each age/grade level.  The elementary counselor presents students with learning experiences designed to assist in developing academic, personal, and social/emotional skills that will help students realize their full potential.

When to call the school counselor?

When children are experiencing difficulty with personal adjustment, family issues, or social/interpersonal concerns, elementary counselors provide early identification and intervention in an atmosphere of safety, trust, and positive regard.

If you have concerns about your child, I am always here to help.  Please contact me any time for any reason.  No concern is ever too large or small!
