Mrs. McLane's Letter

Ms. Chester's Letter

Welcome to Kindergarten! I am SO excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher for the 2020-2021 school year! I look forward to getting to know each of you. I know this year may look untraditional, however I am confident that we are going to have a fantastic year together full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures.

Parents, here are some important things to know for the first days of K:

•You will need-a backpack and a snack your child can independently prepare and eat. Please label your child’s snack bag. Please also bring a labeled reusable water bottle.
•Within the first two weeks of school please send your child in with a pair of headphones to use on in-person days and an extra set of clothes for emergencies. Please label both items in a Ziploc bag.
•Arrival Procedure: Students will arrive between 8:35 and 8:50 by bus or parent drop off.
•Bus students will be dropped off at the main lot on garden side and will be escorted into the building by paraprofessionals.
•Parents can drop off students at either of the following locations:
•Parent/Car Drop Off Option #1: Main Lot on garden side. Parents walk child to sidewalk and return to car.
•Parent/Car Drop Off Option #2:
•Quick Drop Off at the Front Loop
•Cars should pull all the way up to the front of the front loop.
•This is only for children who are independently able to exit the car quickly and safely on their own.
•Dismissal Procedure: Students will be dismissed between 12:29-12:45.
•Students taking the bus will be escorted to busses by paraprofessionals.
•Students being picked up will be escorted by their Kindergarten Teachers to the East Prospect side of the building.
•Please see the attached pages to learn what cohort your child will be in and a sample hybrid schedule to help navigate the first few days of school.

Before the school year begins, I would like to share a few things about myself. First of all, I love being a teacher. I can’t picture myself doing anything else with my life! In 2018, I got married to my best friend and now we are expecting our first child (it’s a boy!) together in a few short weeks!. I am also a proud Rider University graduate, class of 2012 and completed graduate school in 2017 with Teacher Leadership and Reading Specialist certifications. In my spare time, I enjoy doing CrossFit, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and relaxing nights in! While I may not be your child’s kindergarten teacher for the whole year, I know you’re in great hands with Mrs. Chester and I’m already looking forward to our end of year activities when I return!

Kindergarten is a great place to be and will be filled with lots of learning and laughter. It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students. I always attempt to teach with a passion for each subject so that my students develop a desire to become life-long learners.  I know that our school year will be amazing and filled with lots of fun memories. If you have any questions or just want say “Hello!”, you can reach me at chelseamclane@hvrsd.org.

I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. McLane
