This is my 14th year at WOK teaching Math. I have a standard teaching certificate as an elementary school teacher and as an elementary school teacher with mathematics specialization in fifth through eighth grade. I also have my certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities.
My belief is that teaching is more than just helping the children develop better math skills. I believe teaching is helping children develop into the best person they can be. It starts with the teacher’s dedication and commitment to the subject in the classroom. I arrive early and stay late to encourage the children to seek extra help, urging students to actively pursue better grades.
Teaching has no boundaries because time continues outside of the classroom. I make my presence known after school by running the recreation club, and attending student functions this shows my commitment to the students. I believe when children start seeing results and start believing in themselves they realize they can start achieving greater things.
My requirements for my class are the following:
1) Come to class with a pencil, notebook and homework everyday
2) Listen carefully and follow instructions.
3) Ask for help if you are struggling or have any questions, you are your own advocate for your education. Be a leader not a follower.
