I am beginning my 18th year of teaching in the Hillside District however, I have been an educator for 32  years.  My BA degree makes me highly qualified to teach grades Pre-K - 8.  I also earned my Reading Certificate which allows me to be highly qualified in the area of ELA.  I have a MA in Mathematics Education and an additional MA in Supervisorship and a Teacher of the Handicap Certificate.  I am the Title 1 teacher in ELA at George Washington School.  I have 2 children and 1 Yorkshire Terrier.

                                                              www.Readworks.com

I encourage my students to read at least 20 minutes per day.  Ideally, they should be reading 2 non-fiction books and 1 fiction book per month.  Students tend to pick out fiction books to read more often,  however, non-fiction stories expand their vocabulary, their schema, and makes them much better writers. It is proven that students who read every day acquire the necessary life-long skills needed to be successful productive individuals.
