Quarter 1 Skills
Count to 10
Identify numbers to 10 (out of order)
Count, show & write numbers to 9
One-to-one Correspondence for numbers 0-10
(This skill involves putting the correct number of objects with a number card or in a bag marked with a number.)
Say the days of the week in order
Identify & describe 2D shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, & hexagon)
Conservation of number to 10
(This skill involves seeing 0-10 red circles in a line, counting them and saying how many there are. Then matching 1 yellow circle with each red circle and knowing there are the same number without counting. The teacher will then spread out the yellow circles and ask the child how many there are. The child should still say the same number because nothing was added or taken away.)
Writing first name with only 1 capital
Identify/name letters A-Z (upper & lower case/out of order)
Identify all 20 sight words for first quarter
Recognize a pair of rhyming words (Do these two words rhyme? cat hat, dog duck, fox fan, sock rock)
Segment syllables (I say basket, you say /bask/ /et/)
Blend syllables (I say /wa/ /ter/, you say water)
Gross Differences (Listen to a verbal sentence and say how many words in a sentence)
Identify the front and back cover of a book
Produce the first sound in a word (What is the first sound in dog?)
Write a simple sentence with a noun (person, place, or thing). It should begin with a capital and end with a period. Inventive spelling is fine.

3. Have them sort laundry by color and/or size
4. Set goals (Once they meet their goal, they can earn something)
5. Have them explain their work and homework to you as if they were the teacher
School Information Below
