For those of you new to our district, I would like to take a moment and introduce myself as your Washington Township School District’s Guidance Counselor. I also work in the capacity of the District’s ‘Anti-bullying Coordinator and 504 plan Case Manager.
I live in Warren County, NJ with my husband and four children (though our oldest graduated from Yale in 2017 and our next is graduating from Duke this May and are not really 'home.')They provide me with a realistic and current perspective on raising ‘our’ children in an often challenging world. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Centenary College. I am fortunate to be working in a school district that offers our students academic readiness, strong support for character education while truly appreciating each individual child.
My counseling philosophy is summarized in my personal mission statement:
As your guidance counselor I will utilize a collaborative effort:
to foster a school environment where bullying is not tolerated and kindness is encouraged
to teach effective communication skills and promote positive interactions
to provide resources and support to maximize individual academic success
to maintain a nurturing environment supporting self development
to be an accessible and knowledgeable resource for faculty,
parents and students
I will strive each day to make good character choices a reflexive response from our students and I will remind them that “Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking.” H. Jackson Brown
