Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Shevlin

This is my seventh year teaching at Parkview Elementary. As a former Rowan University student, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Writing in December 2012. I also earned my M.A. as a Reading Specialist. I am always finding ways to incorporate new teaching strategies in the classroom to engage students and encourage life long learners.

Teaching is truly my passion, and it is my mission to help my students grow and excel academically, socially, and emotionally within a learning environment where they feel safe, loved, and respected It is my goal to meet the individual learning needs of each of my students so they are able to develop independence and become critical thinkers. My greatest wish is to instill a love for learning in all of my students so that they will forever be lifelong learners. Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” My goal is to be the best I can be to make a difference in the lives of my students.

My favorite educational quote:

"Slow learners are slow learners only because of the ways in which we have tried to teach them...all we had to do was rearrange the teacher's talents, change the delivery conditions, and provide opportunities to succeed..." -Marie Clay
