~ White Township Consolidated School Academic Skills Assistance Program ~

White Township's school-wide needs assessment is completed each year to determine students' eligibility to receive services through our Academic Skills Program for the 2019-2020 school year. Teacher recommendations,school-wide benchmark assessments, as well as the New Jersey Student Learning Assesment (NJSLA) results are reviewed in order to evaluate students who would benefit from support and instructional intervention.

Our hope is that the Academic Skills Assistance Program will meet the needs of each student by providing support from either a Academic Skills teacher or paraprofessional in their classroom and/or the opportunity to receive supplemental instruction and intervention in a small group setting. Supplemental instruction is provided in addition to classroom instruction in order to allow students to achieve thier personal best.

The Academic Skills Assistance Program also provides extended after and before school Jump Start Programs as determined by specific grade level needs in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Invitations for the Jump Start Program will be sent out the week of September 16th.

Funding for our Academic Skills Assistance Program is provided through the federal grant, Every Child Succeeds Act.
