Welcome! My name is Mrs. Bianco, and I'm glad you've stopped by my homepage. As part of the English Department, I have taught many different courses: 9th, 10th, and 11th grade English, Standards-Based English, Writer's Composition, Creative Writing, Introduction to 20th Century Film, Freshman Seminar, and Early Childhood Development & Careers.
Let me tell you a little about myself...
I grew up in Vineland, NJ and graduated from Vineland High School. Afterwards, I attended The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing, NJ, where I graduated with a BA in English and a minor in Law & Justice. The following fall, I enrolled at Rutgers Graduate School of Education in New Brunswick, NJ where I received my Ed.M degree in Secondary Education and English. That same year, I was awarded one of the NJ Commissioner of Education's Distinguished Teacher Candidate Awards from the NJ Department of Education.
My first teaching job was as an eighth grade language arts teacher at Churchill Jr. High School in East Brunswick, NJ. After teaching for a couple of years in East Brunswick, I made the decision to move back to south Jersey to be closer to my family and friends. I've been at Schalick since 2006. I love being back home after living away for many years.
In my free time, I love playing tennis, learning everything I can about the Beatles and classic rock music, attending plays, musicals, and concerts, and sharing new dining and traveling experiences with my husband and family. Among my favorite places in the world that I have visited are London, Hawaii, and Williamsburg, VA. I am also a Philadelphia sports fan--especially the Phillies! You can also find me spending time with my daughters, Giuliana & Isabella, and all 9 of my nieces and nephews!
Now you know a little more about me, and I hope that I can get to know you all a little more this year!
Best wishes to all of my students for a wonderful school year!
