Hello Fourth Graders and Families!

My name is Ms. Laryea and I am your fourth-grade teacher at Grove Street Elementary!  I hope that you are enjoying these summer days with your family. As hard as it is to believe, that time of year is upon us again - the beginning of the new school year! It is with great excitement and anticipation for the year ahead that we welcome all of you returning parents back and our new parents to the school.  While you are not a direct part of the teaching staff here at Grove Street Elementary, you are just as important to your children's education as we are and we look forward to working with each of you toward providing your children with the best possible success in this 2022-2023 school year.

Parents, please note that students will need their devices fully charged with working headphones.

  1. Students will need to go to meet.google.com to join by entering the code every morning.   If you have any glitches, the meet link  is here too: https://meet.google.com/hse-tcze-pjk

The following guidelines will ensure that your child gets the most out of their learning day:

  • To be ready for class, students must be fully dressed, finish their breakfast, and have used the bathroom.

  • Students are in the workspace that you have assigned them.  If the workspace is in their bedroom they are not allowed to lay in bed. They must be sitting up at all times.

  • Students are required to have their cameras on while in class.

  • For the first week of school students need sharpened pencils, Spiral Notebooks, pencil cases, and erasers in their workspace. I have included the 4th grade supply list below. You do not need to worry about the entire supply list for the now.

  • Lunch is from 12:31-1:16 every day.  I will be here to support any student that needs help with assignments. As a general rule, when there are technical issues on your end, just leave our Meet and come back in as soon as you can. When there are issues on my end, the same routine--exit the Meet, wait a few minutes, and try again. If there are big issues, contact the support at 973-399-6800 Ext 1800. Tech is glitchy, so we’ll all take a breath and do the best we can!

I understand that a remote learning environment brings unique challenges for each family. My goal is to foster independence in every learner. Parents can help by allowing the student to do their own work with as little supervision as possible. In the beginning, students may need help navigating their devices.

Parents, you will likely have questions about your child’s school day. Please use email to contact me. I will be unable to respond in the Meet chat or talk to you while students are present, but I will get back to you as soon as I can.  In an emergency please call the main office at 973-399-6867.

I thank you for your support and I am looking forward to a great year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Laryea
