Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to the 2025-2026 school year at Grove Street Elementary School!
My name is Richard Douglas and I am delighted that your child is in my fifth grade math class (Room 314). With shared commitment during a virtual format, your child will experience many rewarding and lifelong learning opportunities throughout the 2025-26 school year. In addition, our scholars will be exposed to and participate in a variety of conceptual practice and college/ career readiness activities to demonstrate their Math computation, reasoning, and modeling abilities. Students will investigate interesting rigorous mathematical content with the support and primary use of personal chromebooks (via the district), various websites and online resources provided by the district. Homework will be assigned daily and it usually consists of reinforced work primarily in the areas of Math and Science but may also include Social Studies and current newspaper articles. It is imperative that your child’s homework is reviewed and submitted in completion every night. Please enable your child to complete at least 25 minutes of I-Ready Math and ELA each night and promote meaningful discussions to build and maintain sturdy academic and social-emotional foundations. It is extremely important for us to develop a progressive and productive home- school relationship that is geared toward a nuturing and successful future for your child.
