Welcome Parents! :)

Hello! Welcome to Pre-Kindergarden. I'm Miss NaKiesha Owens and I am so excited to be teaching your children this year to watch them learn and blossom from the first day of school to the last day. Some background information on myself to get to know me better. I moved to Louisiana from Missouri to start my teaching career. I lived in Missouri my entire life before receiving my Masters in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Missouri State University and taking the big leap to move from the Midwest to the South.

This is my fifth year of teaching  at Louisiana School for the Deaf, and I fall in love with my career more each day. I am so in love with teaching, and have a passion for seeing children learn and grow. The children in my classroom are like family to me. I strive to make my classroom a fun, nurturing environment for the children to bloom into who they are throughout the school year. When a child finally understands a concept they have been struggling with it is one of the biggest rewards to me.  My loves: family, dogs, reading books, and enjoying what God has blessed me with.

Let's begin our journey together here at LSD.

Louisiana School for the Deaf provides a Preschool Program that uses developmentally appropriate practices. We offer a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children are able to develop physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
