Welcome to an exciting 2017-2018 school year, in our Spanish Class!!!!

My name is Gloria Ray; my students call me "Señora Ray".  I was born in Colombia, South America.  I have lived in the United States for 18 years, and have been teaching Spanish at Heights Elementary for eleven years.

Since I came to the United States, I have been working with children, initially on Sanibel Island (in a private institution), and later at Orange River Elementary, also in Lee county.

In 2009, I was awarded for being "The 2008-2009  Outstanding Subject Area Teacher of World Language, elementary level". I am very proud of it!

Every day, I make sure that my students will enjoy learning, with the activities I plan for them. Most of the time, the kids get into groups to work by centers or to work with a partner.

While working in group, the students practice concepts they have learned on daily basis; some times through word games, sentence formation, paragraph completion; I am very happy witnessing how they enjoy learning a new language in a more practical way. I assist them in all their needs.

It is a joy having you children every day in my class! They inspire me to work hard every day; at the same time, they challenge me to achieve my goals and improve myself as a teacher and as a human being.
