Welcome students and parents.

My classes will taught using a “flipped classroom” approach. This class covers the same curriculum and standards as other classes, but the way class time and homework are structured will be different. Instead of the more typical math class where the lecture is presented in class and then students do practice for homework, this class will have the students watch the lecture for homework and then use class time for practice and inquiry.

 

Algebra II:

This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts.  It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions.  It also introduces matrices and their properties.  The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams.  Students who complete Algebra II should take Algebra 3 or Advanced Math/Pre-Calculus next.

 This course is meant to prepare students for higher level math courses such as College Algebra.  We will review many of the concepts from Algebra II while working to build strong thinking and reasoning skills which are necessary to survival not only in college, but also in most careers.   Looking at how these concepts can be used in the world outside the classroom will allow students to gain a better appreciation for how all of what they have seen so far in math comes together.
