Introduction

Lesson 5

Step 1: Have your child sound out these words as you call them out. Do not let them look at the words.  They can use their fingers to help them count the sounds they hear in the word.

ex- runner (you hear the sounds /r/ /u/ /n/ /r/ which is 4 sounds you hear).

Lesson 6

Step 1:  Review the uppercase letters I, J, K, L, and M.  

Have the children practice identifying these letters on flash cards and writing them on paper.

 

Step 2:  Have the children read the story linked below 2 times (try to have them do this with as little help as they can manage).

Step 3:  Ask these questions after reading the story.

 

What pets does Zack ask to get?

Why does Dad tell Zack, "No cats!"?
