Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District provides occupational therapy services to students with disabilities who require this related service to access their special education program as outlined in the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

Occupational therapists use purposeful activities to facilitate a child's active participation in self-help tasks; academic and vocational pursuits; and play/leisure activities that occur in school environments.

Therapy is provided through direct services, in individual and/or group sessions. These sessions may include development of the neuromuscular system and sensorimotor system, as well as recommendations for compensatory strategies, adaptations, environmental modifications and assistive technology.

Indirect consultative services may be provided which could include case consultation, colleague consultation and/or administrative consultation. Ongoing collaboration with parents, teachers and other educational staff occurs to help implement a child's special education program.
