MY STATES

The articles in this unit, along with the state books from the n2y library, introduce state facts. Through reading and discussion, students learn facts related to state identity, climate, geography, government, people and history. Students then demonstrate knowledge of their state in lessons such aas My State Report and My State Flower. 

 

THE 50 STATES

In this unit students learn that while each state has its own identity, all states are part of the larger country, the United States of America. Students will compare the past and present by exploring pancakes.

This month's unit is based on the weather, including conditions and temperatures. Students will explore descriptions of different types of weather and how this may affect clothing choices and activities. Throughout this unit, students will learn about various types of weather and the terms used to describe weather when speaking or writing. The students will describe weather in terms of temperature and conditions and identify four seasons with associated weather and nature changes.
