Dear Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

In Reading, we will continue to learn how 'Asking Questions', 'Making Connections', and 'Creating Images' can help us understand what we are reading.  The students will continue to write an Opinion piece and use the OREO writing framework to guide them in the writing process.  Please remember the importance of nightly reading.

In Math, the students will continue to learn how Math Workshop works.  We will be learning how to use various math strategies to solve word problems, and learn how to subtract with using an open number line.  The students will also independently work in their math centers.

In Social Studies, the students will learn about Veterans Day.  Also, in second grade, we study "Celebrations Around the World".  If you would like to share your family traditions and/or celebrations with the class, please let me know.    I will block out time for you to come in to share an activity, craft, and/or story.    The best times for parent presentations are from 10:00 - 10:45am or 2:00 – 2:45pm. We all look forward to learning about your traditions!

Please send in any small recyclable items for our Makerspace Station.  Some items are: plastic lids (all sizes), ribbon, Styrofoam, small boxes, yogurt cups, towel tubes, buttons, spoons, etc.)  Please make sure all items are clean and not sharp.  Please place these items in your child's backpack and have them give it to me in class.  I truly appreciate your support!

Scholastic Book Orders can be purchased online by going to https://clubs.scholastic.com/ and using my  "Online Ordering Code: GKWK3".

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at cspring@metboe.k12.nj.us.  I am always available to speak with you and meet with you.

Have a great week!
