Circulation Procedures

Purpose

The circulation procedures are to provide information on what may be checked out of the Media Center and by whom.

Materials Circulation

  • Students visit the library every week for a 40 minute period.
  • Each 2nd and 3rd grade students are allowed one (1) book to check out per library visit.  Upon their next visit, if they forget to bring their library book back on time, they are allowed to check out (1) paperback book.  The second time they forget to bring their library books back on time, no books will be allowed to be checked out until the library books are returned.
  • The circulation schedule for students is one week but they are able to renew a book to read for another week.
  • Faculty may borrow as many books and materials as they need to support lessons.

Responsibility of Borrowing

It is the responsibility of the patron to take proper care of the books and/or materials borrowed.

It is the responsibility of the patron to return books and/or materials on time.

If the book/material is damaged while in the patron’s care, they must bring it to the attention of the Media Specialist as soon as possible.  If the book/material is beyond repair, it is the patron’s responsibility to either replace the book/material with the same item or pay the monetary fee to replace it.

Overdue Notices

Overdue notices will be sent home when library books are not returned on time.  After the borrowing of one paperback, no additional books will be allowed to be borrowed until the library books are returned.

Fees and Fines

No fees will be used for overdue books.  According to school policy, books and/or materials must be returned or compensated for by the end of the school calendar year, or no final report cards will be issued.
