AP SPANISH LITERATURE
Course Overview:
The AP Spanish Literature course is designed to be comparable to a college-level survey course in Peninsular and Latin-American literature. A pre-requisite for AP Spanish Literature is successful completion Honor Hispanohablantes III. The course is conducted entirely in Spanish. Students are required to read the entire works in Spanish. The text Abriendo Puertas: Antología de literatura en español, III vols. is used as the primary text, because it provides students with the works on the official reading list in a manner that allows them to cover the works in an academic year. Furthermore, the anthology provides the socio-cultural and historical contexts in which each work was produced. This framing of each work permits students to fully appreciate the work and its significance to literary and cultural studies and to have the necessary information to analyze the work critically. Additional resources include those available on the AP Spanish Literature site.
