  • The first thing I would like you to do today is revisit  your Dialogue Assessments.  You completed them in your One Drive and previously shared them with me. 
  • I allowed you to use all rule sheets when you completed the activity.  I am not sure all of you used them.  Some of you did a great job, but it is not fair to only let some revisit, so I am going to let you all go back and make corrections before I grade them.
  • As a whole, you all did a great job starting a new paragraph with a change in speaker.  The problems were in your capitalization and punctuation (periods, commas, etc.) again, some of you have very few errors where others have more problems. 
  • I am sending a dialogue rule sheet through email for you to use as a guide to help you make corrections.  Once you have made the corrections, please share your assessment with me again. Please take the time to check all punctuation carefully.

3.  MATH:

These are review questions for the lessons we have done so far.  Just try your best to answer them today.  Next week, I will work out a way to check them with you, so you can see if you are correct.  I am trying to set up video conferencing so we can check them together.  I do not have it all ready yet but hope to by Monday.

1.  Independent Reading and Reading Responses:

2.  LANGUAGE ARTS:

  • Using your February 2020 Storyworks magazine, read the Infographic on the back cover entitled Superheroes of the Animal Kingdom.  Then, you will complete the writing activity in the blue box under Write to Win.
  • Please complete your paragraph in One Drive in your 365 account.  Please save the file as My Animal Superpowers and make sure your name is on your paragraph. Please share your paragraph with me when you are done.  I will take charge of sending them into Storyworks to see if anyone wins! :)
  • Use the following format when writing your paragraph:
    • Introduce your paragraph with a topic sentence.  What is your paragraph about?  (Example:  Some animals have remarkable powers that would be really cool for a human to have.)
    • Tell what your first superpower would be in a sentence followed by another sentence or two explaining how the first power would help you.
    • Tell what your second superpower would be in a sentence followed by another sentence or two explaining how the second power would help you.
    • Use a transition such as In conclusion, or To sum it up, to finish out your paragraph with a sum it up sentence. 
    • Pay attention to punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and word choice.

3.  MATH:

Mrs. Peterson also put in a personal math trainer for this specific lesson (Lessons 1.4) if you only want to only practice that. )

  • Please spend 10 minutes on Quizlet practicing your content area vocabulary.

  • Take some time today to check out your special area teachers websites for their assignments and choose ONE or part of one to do.

  • Day 3: 

1. Reflex/Splashmath—15 minutes

Yellow State Assessment Book – Complete pages 7 & 8 (**NOTE:  I assigned the Personal Math Trainer to you for Chapter One online on our Think Central Go Math Site.  You can go log on and practice similar questions that you will see on your yellow book pages.  This will help you if you forget some of the skills. Mrs. Peterson also put in a personal math trainer for this specific lesson (Lessons 1.1 and 1.2) if you only want to only practice that. )

  • Work on fixing the run on sentences on page 28 of your February Storyworks magazine.  You can just make the corrections right in your magazine.

  • As an introduction to our American Revolution Unit, I found a virtual field trip to the American Revolutionary War Museum which features an author many of you know, Lauren Tarshis.  Please enjoy the video which is about 30 minutes long.

  • I will open a Socrative Quiz entitled Causes of the American Revolution at 9:00 am.  I will leave it open until 3:00 pm.  You may use your red social studies textbook pages 134-141 to answer all questions.  Remember to answer short answer questions in complete sentences. 
  • If you are on a school iPad, you can go into Socrative on the app. (It looks like the honeycomb.) If not, go into Safari and type socrative.com in the address bar. Click the Login button in the upper right hand corner of the site, choose Student Login next.  Then, it will look familiar and you will enter our room name:  Baxendale5.
