Mindfulness Club is ready to go just waiting for the sign-up sheets to be returned. Monday & Wednesday after school we will learn & practice calming techniques and strategies. Have your student see me for a permission slip today!
Some mindfulness & yoga will be practiced in the classroom. Check out the Mindfulness links on the left. Remember to keep taking those deep cleansing breaths and exhale all of that stale air. All will be well.
In the resource room, students get their individual needs met by learning at their particular level in English Language Arts. All children and adults for that matter have different ways of learning new things, some are visual, others process auditorily while others need a tactile approach to learning. If you have something you'd like to share with me to help me understand your child better, please do so. In the Resource Room, we try and find out what helps these kids learn!
NEWSELA, READWORKS, TWEENTRIBUNE & STUDENT NEWS DAILY FOR STUDENTS ARE FANTASTIC RESOURCES I USE IN THE CLASSROOM. THEY HAVE CURRENT, UP-TO-DATE NEWSWORTHY ARTICLES. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY - THE BEST THING - IT'S AT THEIR READING LEVEL! Your child will close read non-fiction articles. They will learn, if not already, how to annotate (mark-it-up, personalize) what they are reading, so they can absorb the information and make connections to that reading. They will answer comprehension questions, and at times will write about it as well.
Students will have new grade-level vocabulary every week. These lessons are from Flocabulary, a fantastic site where kids learn catchy lyrics that infuse vocabulary with them. Check out the link on the left - Flocabulary was featured on CBS News! Students write in their journals weekly, incorporating their vocabulary. This is how we get the words into our vernacular! It's an awesome thing!
iReady Language Arts will continue again this year. We will practice skills to bring us to grade level on a weekly basis to improve on these very important skills.
Please be sure to check out these and other links we use in ELA posted on the left.
Homework will not be posted on this site as it is based on individual need and this changes daily in the Resource Room dependent on what goals are met and addressed for each student. Students will be responsible for writing in their agenda daily.
Have a happy, peaceful day thanks for stopping by,
