IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE MUSIC
IT TAKES MUSIC TO MAKE THE WORLD GO AROUND
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to a new musical year at Gateway Elementary School!
My name is Ms. Ewa Hyttel and I am the music teacher at our school. I’d like to share some of our goals and activities with you through quarterly newsletter sent home and at the link "Our Music Newsletter". There are some other useful and fun links, please check..
It is such a treat to work with your precious children in my music class. All students at Gateway Elementary will experience music in many different forms. Each class will receive instruction during a six day rotation. Students will learn about elements of Music like: melody, rhythm, form, and harmony through creative activities.
We have many goals to achieve this year. Students will be playing rhythm instruments, keyboards, xylophones, recorders, and drums. We will learn about elements of music theory, notation, facts about composers, styles, sing songs and listen to variety of compositions from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century music. Students will also enjoy the newest technology through Smart Board where sound, picture and touch come together.
As an extension of regular classroom activities the school is also offering a variety of extra curriculum activities like: Recorder Club ( Monday 8:00am-8:30am), Piano Club (Tuesday 8:00am-8:30am), Ukulele Club (Wesnesday 8:00am-8:30am), Drumming Club (Friday 8:00am-8:30am), and Chorus (Monday 3:10pm-3:55pm).
