Welcome to Ms. Casey's Third Grade Class!
Welcome to your 3rd grade year! Althoguh this year may look a little different, I am beyond excited to dive into a new adventure with each and every one of you : ) We have a fun and exciting year ahead of us with lots to learn and teach eacother. I believe that through consistent communication and collaboration we will have a successful and fun year.
I began my teaching career as a preschool teacher at Myers Park Traditional School. I fell in love with teaching so decided to make it my full time career and entered into CMS. I student taught in 3rd grade at Dilworth Elementary School. Immediately following my student teaching, I took a long term substitute position at Beverly Woods Elementary in a 5th grade classroom. I then went on to teach 4th grade for 2 years at Greenway Park Elementary and now am so lucky to be going into my 4th year at Sharon. Although I have enjoyed each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, I think I have found where I feel I truly belong, in 3rd grade!
I am originally from Bel Air, Maryland and moved down to Charlotte in 2008 to attend Queens University of Charlotte where I was a 4 year collegiate athlete on the women’s lacrosse team. I graduated from Queens in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. I went on to nanny two AMAZING boys right after graduation. A year into nannying, I decided I wanted to focus on a more serious career path. I took a job as a preschool teacher at Myers Park Presbyterian Day School where I spent a year and a half with some wonderful people, co-workers, and families while attending Graduate School at University of North Carolina Charlotte. I received my graduate certificate, teaching license, and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education through their pathway to teaching program.
Along with teaching, I fill my spare time coaching lacrosse. I coach year round; both middle and high school teams, for a club here in Charlotte called Queen City Stars.
I cannot wait to see what this new school year has to offer us! I am a true believer that a student’s success comes from a combination of teacher, parent, student. Please do not ever hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or even just to check in, as I will keep an open line of communication with you. Below is my email address so you can contact me as needed. I look forward to getting to know each one of you and your children as our year together progresses!
