New math workplans go home every Friday. Workplans include your child's homework for the upcomming week.
Zearn: This year, our students will be using a digital math program called Zearn. Zearn is a highly interactive, rigorous, and fun multi-media math learning program. Zearn is designed to be integrated into the classroom, with students spending some time on Zearn each day and some time working with their teacher to solve sophisticated problems and talk through their strategies. Zearn provides teachers with lots of information and resources to plan out their instruction based on where students might need extra support. Each daily Zearn lesson includes: 1) a fun Fluency Warm-up , 2) a “Math Chat”, “Learning Lab” or “Z-Squad” lesson that teaches a math concept in an interactive way, and 3) a “Tower of Power” exercise that gives students the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned. Students must show understanding in the Tower of Power before they unlock the next Zearn lesson. You can see Zearn in action by having your child log in to www.zearn.org using his/her username and password. Zearn is a non-profit organization, and they are providing this program to our students at no cost. Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, or to reach out to Zearn directly through their website.
