Students will earn grades via module tests, in-class assignments, early finisher assignments, and Zearn, all of which are used to assess student knowledge and understanding. In addition, students will be given three benchmark tests to assess overall student learning in math. Benchmark assessments will be given at the conclusion of Module 1 (SLT 1), Modules 2 and 3 (SLT 2), and Modules 4 and 5 (SLT 3). All module assessments and benchmark assessments will be digital.
You may check grades through the "Student Progress Center" which may be accessed through your child's Clever Portal or through the VPSB webpage. Student math grades are weighted. Module assessments will be weighted at 70% and quizzes and other assignments will be weighted at 30%.
Students are encouraged to attend school daily. However, if a student is absent, he/she is responsible for making up any missed. I post a daily agenda in Google Classroom. Each daily agenda will contain relevant module pages of the lesson taught, homework assignment, page(s) of the lesson recap, a lesson video, and any handouts that are used in class (to print at home). Additionally, there is an area in our classroom where make-up work (handouts) may be collected upon a student's return to class if they are unable to print from home. Again, it is the student's responsibility to make up any work missed.
I appreciate the opportunity to work with your child and I know that we will have much success this school year! If you have any questions, please e-mail me at tanna[email protected], send a note, or leave a message for me in the school office (337-937-4441).
Thanks for your ongoing support of your child's education!
