All students will start the semester with an A+, consisting of 100 points, as follows:

Full Value Contract: At the conclusion of the marking period, students will be asked to self-evaluate their performance on a 10 point scale.

Participation: Students will lose points for failing to record their daily activities in the weekly activity log and submitting the log. Each weekly log is worth 5 points. There will also be short participation assignments to round out your 80 points for participation.

Quiz: Students will lose points for failing to attain a passing (obtain a 70% or better) grade on the unit assessments, as follows:

70 - 100% - Subtract 0 points from quiz grade

40 - 60% - Subtract 1 point from quiz grade

0 - 30% - Subtract 2 points from quiz grade

Did not attempt - Subtract 3 points from quiz grade
Grading
HOW THE GRADE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS EVALUATED
Every student begins the Marking Period with the grade of 100. The grade will be divided into three areas:
Attire, Attendance and Participation – 80 Points
Cognitive and Fitness testing – 10 Points
Affective (Full Value Contract) – 10 Points
POINT DEDUCTIONS-Six Points will be deducted for:
Not changing for class and not participating
Cutting Class
Four points will be deducted from your uniform grade for:
Wearing improper gym shirt
Wearing improper gym pants
Three points will be deducted from your participation grade for:
Failure to participate
Unsportsmanlike behavior
Insubordination- failure to properly follow directions
Changing clothes in gymnasium
Creating an unsafe environment for other students (i.e. misuse of equipment)
Two points will be deducted from your participation grade for:
Lack of effort
Using cell phone in class
Poor sportsmanship- Intentional
Cursing 2nd offense
Leaving classroom without permission
Using electronic devices in class (i.e. I-Pod, MP3 player)
One point will be deducted from your grade for:
Food or drink in locker room/gymnasium
Poor Sportsmanship- unintentional
Cursing- 1st offense
Not on time for attendance
A student can earn one to three extra credit points for:
Make up class – 3 points
Showing extra effort assisting the teacher
Being a class leader.
