Procedures for Miss. Jones' Class
All homework assignments will be written in the student's agendas. Homework is put on the board at the beginning of the day for students to copy. Please be sure to check it each night. Each night students will be required to read a minimum of 30 minutes as well as a math assignment (unless they have a test on that day). Students will be given reading logs each Monday that are due that Friday. Students should be bringing home their blue folder nightly.
I will use the agenda to communicate often, so please read it and initial each night. I will stamp the agenda at the end of the day to communicate with you.
Your student’s homework, classwork, and assessments will be returned in this folder on Fridays. Please make sure to review this so that you are aware of your child’s progress. Please send this back to school with your child on Monday.
Assignments with grades on them will usually go home on Fridays in your student's Friday Folder. If your child scored below 79% your child will be retaught the lesson and then retake the graded assignment in class for formal assignments only. Students may not receive higher than a 79% for a corrected formal assignment.
Please check PowerSchool often. I usually have grades in the system before the assignment goes home. Please let me know if you have any questions about an assignment.
CHANGE IN TRANSPORTATION AND ABSENCES:
If you have a change of transportation for your child, please indicate it in their agendas or in a written note. I can not accept verbal communication from your child about the changes.
When your child is absent and I put the absence in our attendance system it will automatically code it an UNEXCUSED ABSENCE. If the absence is excused (illness, religious holiday, injury, etc) please send an email or note to Ms. Beverlee Withers. There is also an online link on our website to use for absences.
We will be using class DOJO for our classroom management system.
You have received a login number and will be able to view grades ONLINE as we put them in there. This will keep you posted as to what grades they are earning. You will also see tests, reports, and quizzes in their Friday Folders. It is very important that both you and your child are aware of their grades. Please review the grades with them.
-Please make sure you go over each part of the report card with your child. A's and B's indicate at or above grade level. Please understand if you see a C on your child's report card they are still on grade level. D's and F's are below grade-level work.
All of our students work hard to earn their grades, and all grade-level work should be celebrated. If there are any questions please email me and I will be happy to discuss any of the grades you see on your child's report card.
There is a grade scale on my website! Please REVIEW it. Last year your child received 1, 2, or 3’s for their grades. A 3 represented that your child was consistently meeting expectations. A 3 last year DOES NOT ALWAYS translate into an A in third grade.
