We have instituted a new make-up work policy at Sharon School in order to allow us to efficiently accommodate requests for make-up work when children are absent. As you know, we have had many absences this year due to colds and the flu. We appreciate you following this policy to help the teachers address your requests for make-up work. Thank you.
Make-up Work Policy for Absences:
-If the student is out 1 day, the student will get the homework and missing class assignments the following day.
-If the student is out for >1 day, the student will get the homework and missing class assignments once the student returns. The teacher will need at least 24 hours to prepare the packet. The 24 hour preparation period begins when the student returns to school. Teachers often cannot assign homework until they have taught the lessons.
-If the parent knows in advance of the absence, they should request homework and missing class work after they return, for the reason stated above.
-Parents should request homework and missing class assignments via email. Parents without email access may request the make-up work by a letter when the student returns, or by calling the school and leaving a message for the teacher.
-The teacher will put together a homework packet and leave it in the front office. The packet will be clearly marked with the student’s name.
-Parents will pick up the homework packets in the front office.
