Mrs. Clark's Kindergarten!!!!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

This week will we be learning about Ancient Egypt.  We will listening to Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osbourne. We wil learn  about mummies, Egypt, pyramids, black cats, pharohs, scepters, sarcophagus,  and talking about the characters, setting, and story events.  We will be making props to act out the story. We are strengthening attention spans and focusing skills.  We will learn about characters, who the story is about, and settings, where the story takes place.

We will work on schedules and routines.  We will be introduced to many new adjustments.  We will learn how to speak nicely to our classmates, sit properly in our spots, and how to cooperate with our classmates.

We will continue to concentrate on rules and routines.

Sight Words ~ go, am, it, can

In Math, we are learning to count up to 10 objects and compare these numbers.  We will learn about equal groups, groups that are greater than another and less than another.  We are learning the number symbols for 0-10, and learning the quantities of these numbers.  We will learn about same/different, shapes and colors. We are learning the names of basic shapes ~ circle, square, rectangle, triangle.

We are counting our calendar days and our keeping track of the daily weather.

We are getting used to our specials' schedule, which is a 6 day schedule.  Every time it is a day 1 and 2, we have Gym, day 3 and day 4 we have Spanish, and day 5 and day 6 we have Art class.  Each month on the monthly calendar we will number the days, so you will be aware of the special each day.

As you can see, we are very busy and loving every minute of it!

I am here for your child.  If you ever need to talk to me, please know that our door is always open.

Together, we hope to have a very successful year.  I am looking forward to learning each day and making Kindergarten a comfortable, secure, and safe environment for your child.

Thank You,
Catherine Clark
