Long Valley has been a part of my life since 4th grade, where I attended Flocktown Road School. I graduated from West Morris Central High School in 2002. My husband and I live in Long Valley with our three children: Allie, Colton, and Blakely. Allie will be in third grade at Kossmann this year and Colton will be in first grade!
I completed my undergraduate studies at East Stroudsburg University from 2002-2006. I majored in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I graduated with a BA in Education and taught Pre-K for a year at Suburban Hills School in Chester, N.J.
My journey in Washington Township School District began in 2007 as a 5th grade math and science teacher at Old Farmer’s Road School. During that time, I went back to school to earn my Master's Degree in Middle School Mathematics at Montclair State University. I graduated in May 2012 and decided to take on a new position as one of the district's gifted and talented teachers. In 2015, I completed the Rutger's Certificate Program of Gifted and Talented Education. In July of 2020, I completed my second Master's Program at UCONN in Educational Psychology geared towards Gifted Education. Last year, I decided that my heart was back in the 5th grade classroom teaching my first love, Math! I am excited to be coteaching with Mrs. Tasnady for the 3rd year in a row!
Our fifth grade team mission is to help students realize their potential and their contributions to self and society; to provide an environment to help meet their psychological, social, and educational needs; to help them become capable of intelligent choices, independent learning, problem solving, and self-initiated actions; to strengthen their skills and abilities in problem solving, creative thinking, and communication; and to maximize their learning and individual development.
