Math Fluency Goals

 

Using math flashcards or laminated math facts sheets (+, -, x, and /), the students are assigned daily homework to practice the single-digit math facts.

 

Biweekly, the students will take a math fluency assessment check to determine how many facts they can compute in 1 minute.

 

 

The students will alternate taking the math fluency tests each week -

addition/multiplication - 1st/3rd weeks

subtraction/division - 2nd/4th weeks

 

6th grade - in one minute

By October 31, the students will be able to complete fluently 30 math facts (+, -, X, and /).

By December 12, the students will be able to compute fluently 45 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

 By March 18, the students will be able to compute fluently 60 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

By April 20, the students will be able to compute fluently 70 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

 

7th grade - in one minute

By October 31, the students will be able to complete fluently 30 math facts (+, -, X, and /).

By December 12, the students will be able to compute fluently 45 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

 By March 18, the students will be able to compute fluently 60 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

By April 20, the students will be able to compute fluently 80 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

 

8th grade - in one minute

By October 31, the students will be able to complete fluently 30 math facts (+, -, X, and /).

By December 12, the students will be able to compute fluently 45 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

 By March 18, the students will be able to compute fluently 60 math facts (+, -, x, and /).

By April 20, the students will be able to compute fluently 90 math facts (+, -, x, and /).
