Welcome to Computer Science at Tighe School!  During this school year, you will have the chance to learn a lot more about computers in one of three areas.  If you are in 5th-grade, you will be learning about coding using Code.org.  Code.org was developed by a team of educators and computer science specialists and is a Block-based coding program.  Robotics and coding is on tap for our 6th-graders.  We will be using the Vex IQ 2nd generation physical robots.  Seventh and eighth-grades will delve into 3D modeling and printing using Tinkercad.  Tinkercad was developed by AutoDesk, one of the leading manufactures of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.  In this class, our students will explore methods of creating a variety of objects on-screen and then printing out their creation on one of our 3D printers.  Computer Science classes at Tighe are taught as an academic-styled class.  Classwork that is not completed is expected to be finished as homework.  For each Challenge completed, students are expected to complete a reflection on the work as a key part of their grade.  Late work has a deduction of ten points.
