Dear OECS Students and Families,
I am happy to be back at Ola Edwards Community School, for this my 7th year as your vocal/general music teacher and choral director. I look forward to a happy, healthy, and musical school year!
During general music classes, we will be working on rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, proper singing, and playing handheald rhythm instruments.
There are two chorusus at Ola Edwards: one for grades 2, 3, and 4; and one for grades 5-6. Chorus rehearsals meet outside of music class time, during the school day as a pull-out program.
There are two major CONCERTS per school year, which are requirements for the chorus, band, and strings students. There will be additional performance opportunites as school day assembiles and after-hour performances as the year unfolds.
CONCERT DATES:
WINTER CONCERT: Wednesday, December 17, 2025. 1:00 PM in the OECS GYM.
SPRING CONCERT: Wednesday, May 20, 2025. 6:00 PM in the OECS GYM.
Performers arrive by 5:15 PM.
Please be advised that students are not allowed to wear sneakers, flip-flops, jeans, or hoodies.
"Dress up" clothes and shoes are required. No flip-flops or high heels, as you will be standing on the risers.
More details on clothing will be given with letters home to our participating families.
